Feldenkrais for Massage Therapists: The Neuroscience of Touch, 7/3/26
Massage therapists spend their careers working with and through the skin, yet few have explored the remarkable sensory system that lives within it. The skin contains thousands of specialized receptors that detect pressure, texture, temperature, stretch, and movement—providing constant feedback to the nervous system.
In this highly interactive, hands-on course, participants will explore how these sensory receptors function and how the brain uses this information to guide movement and coordination. Through a combination of brief lecture, guided Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons, and extensive partner work, therapists will refine their sensory awareness in real time while giving and receiving touch.
Participants will learn to detect subtle changes in pressure, contact, and movement, allowing them to work with greater precision and significantly less effort. As the practitioner’s nervous system becomes more responsive and regulated, clients often respond with reduced muscular resistance—making deeper work possible without increased force.
This course emphasizes practical application, giving therapists immediately usable tools to improve efficiency, reduce strain, and deepen the quality of touch in their practice.
