Intraoral CE: Structural Work for the Head, Jaw, and Neck with Pat O'Rourke
The jaw and neck hold tension and dysfunction for a very large percentage of the population (particularly since Covid), but few massage practitioners know how to specifically and effectively address it. This sixteen-hour class satisfies the Washington State requirements for the intraoral endorsement. The course will ground you in: understanding the local anatomy; testing mobility; assessing structure; and palpating and treating the most important and elusive regions.
You will hone your skills on the structures of the neck and learn some specific useful intraoral work for the most often problematic muscles around the jaw.
The course will include:
Specific anatomy of the upper cervical spine, TMJ as well as jaw and cervical musculature
Specific palpation of the deep paraspinal muscles, suboccipitals, longus colli and capitus, and cervical joint motion
Visual and mobility assessment for the neck, jaw and face
Myofascial work for the cervical and jaw regions
Intraoral work for the temporal and pterygoid muscles
Discussion of the common symptoms for whiplash and TMJD
This class meets the 16-hour Washington State Intraoral Endorsement Requirement.
